We are outraged at the rising rates of cancer in our communities. The unprecedented rate of breast cancer in the Bay Area is one of the highest in the world, and this is totally unacceptable!
Scientists are finding links between diseases (breast and prostate cancer, reproductive disorders, asthma, attention deficit disorder) and the levels of chemicals in our bodies, our so-called "community body-burden." It's as though each of us is carrying a little bag of chemicals on our backs. We have the right to know about the chemicals that are building up in our bodies.
We can find out about our community body burdens of chemicals by analyzing our breast milk. The mother, by giving us a sample of breast milk, teaches us what is in our bodies.

Breast Milk Action (BMA) is a grassroots organization, community-based and working with unions, to advocate the need to monitor community chemical body burdens by examining breast milk. We are committed to the following:
As an advocate of Breastfeeding, we consider breastfeeding a sacred act and unequivocally support, promote, and encourage breastfeeding to all mothers. Secondly, we stand for the health of our infants, families, and communities, insisting that our community body-burdens be reduced through by the monitoring of body burdens through breast milk. By analyzing our breast milk, we can learn what is in our bodies.
If you are interested in participating in a community body burden monitoring study using breast milk, please contact us via email: BreastMilkAction@hotmail.com
